Quick start

How to use the glitch text generator

Start with a short word or sentence so you can see how each setting changes the result. The generator updates in your browser, so you can compare a readable distortion with a more chaotic version before copying anything.

01Enter text

Type a name, caption or message and see the corrupted result immediately. Spaces, punctuation and emoji stay in place.

02Choose the effect

Pick a preset, adjust intensity and control marks above, through or below letters.

03Copy and test

Copy the result, paste it into the destination and check that it remains readable on that platform.

The Subtle preset works well when the original words still need to be understood. Glitchy adds a stronger broken-signal look, while Cursed creates dense Zalgo text for short decorative phrases. Regenerate keeps the same settings but chooses a new combination of marks.

01 · Basics

What are glitch, Zalgo and corrupted text?

This visual effect starts with ordinary letters and adds Unicode combining marks. Those marks normally create accents, but stacking several of them produces the broken appearance commonly called Zalgo, cursed or corrupted text.

The result is copyable text rather than an image or downloadable font. The original letters remain underneath the marks, which is why you can paste the output into many messages, comments and profile fields. It may resemble a damaged typeface, but nothing is installed on your device.

The names are often interchangeable. “Glitch” sometimes describes a lighter digital distortion, while “Zalgo” often refers to marks that extend far above and below a line. More distortion is not always better: the most useful setting is the lightest one that creates the mood you want.

02 · Controls

Choose a readable distortion level

Intensity controls how many combining marks are attached to each letter. Above places marks over the character, Through adds lines and accents across its middle, and Below extends the effect underneath the baseline. You can turn off any direction to create a cleaner, more consistent shape.

Platform safe mode limits the number of stacked marks. Use it for usernames, bios and chat fields where character limits or filters may apply. For posters, horror titles or a short fictional warning, a higher intensity can produce a more dramatic result. Long paragraphs are usually easier to read when only a few words receive the effect.

Press Regenerate to produce another arrangement with the same controls. The underlying message stays unchanged while the randomly selected marks differ, giving you several versions to compare without retyping the phrase.

03 · Reverse

Remove glitch marks from corrupted text

A corrupted text generator adds combining marks; the cleaner reverses that step. Paste Zalgo text into the first box to remove those marks and recover the underlying letters. This is useful when a copied message is difficult to read or when you want to reuse its words without the visual effect.

The cleaner removes combining marks rather than translating a secret language. If the source replaced letters with unrelated symbols, those substitutions will remain and may need to be edited manually.

04 · Use cases

Where to use distorted Unicode

The effect works best as a small visual accent. A short display name, game tag, caption or warning can stand out without making an entire message difficult to follow. Always paste a sample into the final app before saving because supported characters and field limits vary.

Discord and chat

Add a distorted effect to a short message or display name. Keep important rules, links and instructions in ordinary text.

Bios and captions

Use a light effect for Instagram, TikTok or another profile where style matters but the words should remain clear.

Minecraft and gaming

Create a corrupted-looking name or chat phrase, but remember that a Minecraft server may filter marks or enforce its own character limits.

For Minecraft, Roblox and other games, test the exact destination rather than assuming every field behaves like normal chat. A launcher name, server nickname, sign and in-game message can each apply different rules. Platform safe mode is the sensible starting point for a gaming name because it produces fewer marks per character.

05 · Formats

Static Unicode versus animated effects

This page creates static Unicode that can be selected, copied and edited. Animation tools create movement, usually as a GIF, video, CSS effect or image. Their output can flicker, jump or split into colored layers, but it cannot be pasted into a username as editable text.

Choose Unicode for a bio, comment, chat message or game tag. Choose animation when you are producing a video title, stream overlay or graphic. Products such as Pixelied and LingoJam may present different interfaces and output choices; this independent tool focuses on adjustable Unicode marks and a built-in cleaner.

06 · Compatibility

Why results look different across apps

Apps, browsers and device fonts render stacked Unicode marks differently. Some services remove combining marks, limit username characters or show a lighter effect after pasting. Others count every added mark toward a character limit, so a visually short name may contain many underlying code points.

Platform safe mode limits how many marks are added to each character, which improves readability and reduces the chance of filtering. If a result shows empty boxes, loses part of the effect or takes too much space, lower the intensity and try again. The preview shows what your current browser renders, not a guarantee that every destination will display an identical shape.

Use intense Zalgo styling for short decorative phrases. Ordinary text is better for essential information because heavily decorated characters can be difficult to read, search or interpret with assistive technology.

FAQ

Common questions

Open a question for a short answer.

Is glitch text the same as Zalgo text?

They use the same basic technique: adding Unicode combining marks around ordinary characters. Zalgo tools often default to a heavier effect, while a general converter may offer lighter settings. “Cursed” and “corrupted” are other common names.

Is this a real font?

No font is installed. The generator adds Unicode marks to your letters, so the styling travels with the copied text.

Can I copy and paste the result?

Yes. The output remains editable. Use the Copy result button, paste it into the destination and preview it before saving.

Do I need a Zalgo text keyboard?

No special keyboard is required. Type with your normal keyboard, let the browser add the combining marks, and copy the generated result. This avoids installing a custom keyboard or switching input methods.

Is a Zalgo text translator translating a language?

No. “Translator” is sometimes used as another name for a converter. The words and language stay the same; only Unicode marks are added around the existing characters.

Can I use the result on Discord?

Discord can display many combining marks, but results vary by field and device. Use a light setting and preview the pasted text before saving a name or message.

Why was part of the effect removed?

Some platforms filter combining marks or limit the characters allowed in usernames. Platform safe mode creates a lighter result that is more likely to remain readable.

Does the generator upload my text?

No. Generation and cleaning run in your browser, and no account is required.
